Oh Gentleman! 2010.01.09 01:14:09 |

I remember how I fell in love with him one year ago (or was it at the end of 2008? Hmm). He seemed sweet, suave and talented. To top it all of, he has impeccable style and can serenade you to death. I was smitten. And he didn’t disappoint when I finally met saw him in person last Thursday night. Because at last, the Gentleman aka Ne-yo came here to stage a concert! Since finding out about a month ago, I persuaded the boyfriend to go with me because none of my girlfriends wanted to go (not a huge fan, lack of funds, busy with work, etc.). I felt kind of guilty too as it was his birthday on the day of the concert but heck, this is Ne-Yo we’re talking about! Somehow, we procrastinated the buying of tickets till the last minute. By Wednesday, the day before the concert, a couple of my friends agreed to join us after much haggling – both hesitated at first because they didn’t want to be the third wheel and refused to go unless the other was going. Turns out in the end, the bf was the one who couldn’t go as his friends had better ideas for him to spend his birthday. I can’t say I wasn’t disappointed but it’s ok, because I sensed that he didn’t really want to go in the first place. So off to the concert we went. I must say, Ne-Yo looks hotter (and smaller) in person, not that it’s a bad thing. We were in the middle of the venue and this is one of the times I wished I was taller. Much taller. I only took one picture and two videos as we weren’t near enough to get a clear shot and my phone was low on battery. Nevertheless, he sang all my favourite songs, except for Can We Chill, I think. Doesn’t matter because he was great. Though I can’t say this was one of the best concerts I’ve been to but I had fun watching the Gentleman live and catching up with my girlies. Probably it was the management, lack of a better view or my own sleep deprivation that turned the enjoyment down a notch. I was so knackered by the end of the night, I’m beginning to think that age is catching up on me. Oh no! ![]() Here’s the best picture I could take of Ne-Yo from where we were standing ![]() And here are snippets of the concert that I managed to record before my phone’s battery went dangerously low. |
