Read Much, Anyone?

Whenever I can, I like to remind the guys in my life what good multi-taskers we women are compared to them. Lately however, I’ve been reading more and more articles that give multi-tasking a bad rep. Something about it being counter-productive and disturbing your energy “flow”. Bah.

And yet, I still do it. In fact my multi-tasking disease has now spread to my books. If there’s a workshop for multibook-holics, sign me up! Cos, I don’t know how to go through one book at a time. And this is probably why it takes me forever (and then a year after that) to finish reading them. Every time I change novels, I have to re-read the last two pages from where the bookmark sits (which by the way, are glamorous things like book receipts, Starbuck serviettes, or plain old dog-ear marks).

Possibly, my problem is I treat my book collection like the Astro channels: hoping I can switch channels to suit my mood and pick up the plot as I go along. Right now though, the problem persists. I have more than one (but less than five!) books on my bed-side stand – and will probably buy more within the next few months.

So help! Teach me how to read one book at a time. Should I:

- Buy thinner books?
- Buy more interesting books?
- Learn to read faster?
- Listen to audio-books?

Lynette

How is it possible that you multi read ?
I feel that you dont enjoy the book if you do so.
1)Buy only 1 or 2 books at a time
2)Buy interesting books
3)Learn to read, imagine the scenario you have read
4)Read with your heart

The latest I have read was Angels and Demons - Dan Brown
And I cant wait to watch the movie - I cant even put the book down !

Good Luck !

Pardon me, but I find multi-reading off putting. I'll never start with a new book unless I finish the current one. I'm a really bad multi-tasker when it comes to reading.

Just a humble suggestion here; buy only one book at a time, and finish it off. Then only can u allow urself to buy a new book.

Hope it helps.

I seriously dont know how u multi read at the same time..
U see, i seriouly love reading. Once i started reading( only fiction)i cant seems to be able to stop myself from stoping!!
In my opinion, u should really find sumthing u really interested in! Buy only books that u really really want to read instead of wat is popular recently..
Find something which can catch ur interest!!

All the best to u!!
